Audace Sailing Team: A New Chapter of Innovation and Growth

Navigating Change: New Members and Fresh Energy

As we embark on a new year full of challenges and opportunities, Audace Sailing Team has undergone a significant transformation. Many of our long-standing members have graduated and moved on to exciting careers in top-tier sailboat production companies, but this natural turnover has also welcomed a wave of fresh talent. With new members bringing diverse skills and renewed energy, our team is more motivated than ever to push boundaries and embrace risks in pursuit of innovation.

Currently, Audace Sailing Team consists of around seventy dedicated members. Our organizational structure remains rooted in six specialized departments: Design, LCA, Shipyard, Crew, Marketing, and Social Media & Communication. However, what sets us apart is our adaptability. While the structural framework remains largely unchanged, the leadership roles within these departments evolve, allowing individuals to tailor responsibilities to their strengths. This dynamic approach not only fosters individual growth but also strengthens the cohesion and efficiency of our team.

Preparing for the S2 and S3 Stages of the 2025 Foiling SuMoth Challenge

This year marks a bold step forward for us: Audace Sailing Team will compete with two boats in the 2025 Foiling SuMoth Challenge! This ambitious decision means our efforts are now split between refining our existing boat and designing a brand-new prototype.

The competition presents a prime opportunity for us to drive innovation in design, materials, and sustainability. A key focus of this year’s project is improving on areas where we faced challenges in previous years. The S2 stage will prioritize rigorous testing of our boats’ components to ensure safety and efficiency, addressing critical aspects that proved decisive in last year’s Challenge. Our ultimate aim is to build a fast, reliable, and durable foiling boat—one that can withstand extended training sessions and be race-ready when it counts.

Mistakes are part of the learning process, and we are committed to making as many as possible during training so that when competition day arrives, our boat is in peak condition. A well-executed S2 phase will be the foundation for a successful S3 stage, and we are fully dedicated to making that happen.

Lessons from the Past: Victories and Valuable Experience

Our past experiences have reinforced an essential truth: teamwork is everything. Over the years, our collective efforts have led to some truly remarkable achievements. We fondly recall our unexpected yet hard-fought victories in the 2023 Foiling SuMoth Challenge, where we claimed the Overall and Stage 1 titles. In 2024, we continued our success by winning first prizes for Stage 1 Refit and Stage 2, proving the strength and innovation behind our project.

However, our journey has not been without setbacks. Analyzing our past mistakes has been crucial in shaping our approach for this year. With every challenge we’ve faced, we have gained valuable insights that prepare us to tackle future obstacles with even greater determination. Our goal remains the same: to continuously grow, demonstrate our worth, and strive for even greater achievements.

A Collective Force for Innovation and Sustainability

Managing a team of seventy individuals means navigating a sea of different opinions—a challenge that, when approached correctly, becomes a powerful advantage. By harnessing the diverse perspectives and expertise within our team, we have transformed ideas into tangible achievements. Several bachelor’s and master’s theses have been developed as a result of our projects, and some of our innovative boat designs are currently under review for publication in scientific journals.

Beyond competition, our efforts extend to shaping a sustainable future for sailing. The knowledge and skills our members acquire throughout research and training contribute to developing new sustainable innovation frameworks. The more competitive our boats become, the greater our impact on the sailing industry will be, proving that performance and sustainability can go hand in hand.

As we look ahead to the 2025 Foiling SuMoth Challenge, we do so with unwavering passion and dedication. We are ready to embrace the risks, innovate boldly, and leave our mark on the world of foiling. The journey continues, and we can’t wait to share it with you!
